What's cooking good looking? Love da Pop Corn

Want to add a wow factor to your soirée cinema? I discovered this little business while I was watching a movie at the lovely Wilton's Music hall in East London. Little baggies filled with White chocolate popcorn were putted on each seat! MIAM.

I learned after, that 3 Saatchi & Saatchi advertising young executives started their own popcorn business 1 year ago, cooking and burning popcorn in their kitchen.

The flavors are cute (Reggae Reggae sauce, sweet ginger..) and the initiative they took after noticed a gap in the market for healthy popcorn is going pretty WELL now.

Even thought it was not always the case, you can see their story at www.lovedawebsite.com

"This story is called Being Roasted By Dragons. Once upon a time, Love Da Popcorn went on Dragon’s Den, on the telly. The dragon’s roasted them, especially Duncan Bannatyne who said, “This is not a business!” But Peter Jones said yes it bloody is, and Love Da Popcorn did a dance to no music.* "

My Intern hot list

  • Sad? Tesco lasagne Sandwich had once exist (RIP). A launch fail…probably because it contained the same amount of fat then 2 McDo Cheeseburgers.

  • Cool: In London, we can be drunk among girafes and lions by going to the zoo at night!(Thanks Dephine!)

  • Are we in a suspense movie? In 2001, a major shareholder of Aston Manor Bewery planned to contamine Bulmers Cider with a special yeast. The Bulmer’s employee who was paid 16,000 pounds to achive the plan reported the plot to the police.

  • Cartoon story : When Gaymers decided to Switch the 5% dry Blackthorn cider into a 4.7% product, a massive revolt movment took place! Well seems that cider isn’t just about apples but perhaps, identity… (Like if we once decide to ban maple sirup in Quebec)

See: the CDL (Cider defense League)

The Facebook protest group

Favorite quote: "Blackthorn is a man's drink, without being chauvinist, but my customers say it has lost bite and is too sweet. Blackthorn drinkers will only drink Blackthorn and so they are not happy about this." –pub owner

Korean Tesco

Grand Prix at Cannes Lions, Tesco's approach was to "let the store come to people".

How to become number one without increasing the numbers of stores? Put stickers of food items on tube's stations walls. People in Taiwan can now shop by scanning the code's food print on their way home. A happy guy will deliver the stock just when you're about to take out your shoes.

Only regret: In Quebec, we use to touch the vegetables. How can I know if my avocado is mature enough to make guacamole?

On Narrative

On Narrative was part of the talks series events organized by -it's nice that- this summer. At the front line: Mickey Please, an illustrator and a multi-media animation filmmaker, Studio Weave and Kate Stanners, creator director at Saatchi & Saatchi.

All of them where there to entertain us about the power of narrative in their work of creation. Different and all interesting at the same time, I must say that it's the approach of Studio Weave, london designers working in architecture, that charmed me the most.

Before building or modify something, they personalize houses and buildings, give them feelings and create a story behind each. Therefore, it gives a fluent meaning to each project and it become easier to understand for all a community.

So let's say, if my flat is messy, it's just because he has a Jekyll and Hyde personality since the colds of the mid-terms...

Took place at the Redbull Studio,

Maybe you can be relucted by the price (12£) but knowing that’s a 3 hours open bar (drinks, beers, wine) may convince you.

Skittles ads

The skittle ads are really great, especially the Youtube campaign that use the viewers as a tool/actor by asking them to put a finger on the screen. It's now well know but still good to look at it. Look also at the new one -fake-(A little bit more provocative -by cousins)!

Cannes Lions 2011 -Award winning Despair Whirlpool

An exhibition of massive living sculptures in the streets of Shanghai was realized for the Yang Ai foundation. The goal was to raise awareness around the every day struggles of parents with autistic children. It is estimated that the campaign had reached 20 000 000 people.

Cannes Lions 2011- Google ads

Wow, Google ads are particularly interesting. It shows the new functions of Google in the recreational way of a homemade video. When I watch them I don’t feel that it’s advertising. The fact is, that is advertising and it works brilliantly. Here are few examples:
